GAMABA stands for Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan, or the National Living Treasures award.
It is given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines to a person or group of artists recognized by the Government of the Philippines for their contributions to the country's intangible cultural heritage.
This project was a book meant to feature the latest awardees. We spent time with the communities in Ilocos Norte, Kalinga, Abra, Pampanga, and Basilan.
Photos from this project are part of the permanent exhibit at the GAMABA Hall of the Philippine National Museum of Anthropology.
